Palamu District Fire Officer Uttam Kumar Mahto said, “There is just one place in Daltonganj where we can have water. It’s on the station road here. There is no other water booth for the fire tenders.”
Asked if ponds here in the town and around are any good for water filling the fire officer said “There is no pond here as such from where we can pull water. This is the major problem here.”
Incidences of the outbreak of fire are very common in the intense heat prone Palamu district where from the bursting and enflamed electricity transformers to bursting of LPG cylinder is not unheard of thing.
There are 42 fire stations in Jharkhand and on an average one fire station serves 10 lakhs of the population in the state of Jharkhand.
