Jamshedpur, March 26: The body of a 22-year-old youth was found floating in Dimna Lake under Bodam thana area about 12 km away from here on Wednesday morning.

A day after Afroz had gone missing, the police had found a motorcycle, a T-shirt and a mobile phone, all belonging to him near the lake, making the family members anxious. But as there was no trace of him, they were under the impression that he might have played a kind of mind game and were hopeful that he would return home soon.

But this morning Afroz’s body came up on the water’s surface, bringing the illusion to come to an end.

Police confirm suicide

Bodam thana OC, Manoranjan Kumar said this to be a case of suicide.

“We came to the conclusion about the youth’s death being suicidal after talking to the bereaved family members after we sent the body for the autopsy,” said Manoranjan Kumar while talking to The Jharkhand Story.

He said the deceased was the only son of his parents and would work as an AC mechanic.

Quarrel with father

“Afroz wanted to go over to the Gulf to work there and had procured the necessary papers for it. He had also saved the money needed for going to the Gulf, but his father who is having financial problems wanted the savings that Afroz had made by working as a mechanic. Before he left home on March 22, there was a serious quarrel between the father and son over the money. Hence, we are of the opinion that the youth might have committed suicide due to the mental trauma caused by the quarrel,” elaborated the OC.

A pale of gloom descended in Taz Nagar after the news of Afroz’s death spread over there.
