Sukma, March 26: In a significant development, nine Naxalites, including six women, surrendered before security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Wednesday, police said.

Collectively carrying a reward of ₹26 lakh on their heads, they gave up arms due to growing dissatisfaction with the hollow and inhuman ideology of the Maoists and increasing internal conflicts within the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist).

Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan stated that heightened security operations, the establishment of police camps in remote areas, and the state government’s ‘Niyad Nellanar (Your Good Village)’ scheme, aimed at fostering development in interior villages, played a crucial role in their decision to surrender.
