Jharkhand News: Five arrested for youth’s murder near Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Jan 31: Police today succeeded in arresting all the five accused involved in the Sabir murder case registered with the Kapali thana outpost under the Chandil thana area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Tuesday.

Those arrested were identified as Salamat Ansari alias Aryan Khan, Farhan Ali, Ghulam Khan alias Tanni, Ishtamul Malik and Arbaz Khan alias Baju, all in the age groups of 19 to 23 years and residents of the Kapali area.

According to police, Md Sabir Alam (21) who was a resident of Gaushnagar in Kapali was attacked by a gang of about half-a-dozen youths at Ramu Chowk in Gaushnagar on that fateful afternoon.

The assailants who were carrying daggers struck with the weapons repeatedly until the victim fell down in a pool of blood there.

As soon as the incident took place, the locals rushed Sabir to the MGM Medical College Hospital where the doctors on emergency duty declared him as brought dead.

Soon after the agitated residents of the Gaushnagar had taken the body to the Kapali TOP and staged a gherao of the thana outpost demanding the police to detect the case and arrest the assailants involved in the murder.

Police crack case within 48 hours

The victim’s father Maqsud Alam subsequently lodged an FIR against Sabir Ali alias Satnu, Farhan Khan, Salamat Ansari and three-four others. After the FIR was lodged the SDPO, Chandil, Arvind Kumar Singh set up a special team and finally succeeded in unraveling the case within 48 hours of the case being registered.

During the process of arrest, the police recovered three daggers and four mobile phones used in the murder which was a result of old enmity between the victim and the assailants.

Briefing the newsmen at Chandil this afternoon, the SDPO, Sinha said the police are trying to arrest two or three more persons involved in the case.
