Jharkhand News: Four friends killed in car-truck collision in Dhanbad

Dhanbad, June 19: Four friends were crushed to death on the spot while one was seriously injured in a car-truck head-on collision on National Highway -2 near the Loharbarba area under Barbadda police station around 8 km away from district headquarters in late evening of Tuesday.

The police official said that the incident occurred at around 11.30 pm. All five friends had been going towards Rajganj in a Brezza car from the wrong side of a six-lane road. The unidentified truck fled after the accident.

The collision was so hard that the car became in the shape of a sandwich after the accident.  Four persons had already died in the car when the police patrolling party and local people brought them out from the crashed vehicle.

The fifth friend was found seriously injured and was duly sent to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad. The doctors said his condition was critical and would be referred to a superspecialty hospital.

Deputy superintendent of police (Govindpur range) Shankar Kamti who reached the spot immediately conducted the rescue operation and sent all four bodies to medical college for post-mortem.

An eyewitness said that liquor bottles were also found in the car. Among four dead two were identified as Rahul Gupta of the Rangatand area and Ankit Kumar of Gandhi Nagar, both were businessmen. Two others are being identified.
