Jamshedpur, July 15: Four persons were killed and five others seriously injured as a bus they were travelling in for a marriage ceremony came in contact with an overhead power line under the Tamar thana area late on Sunday night.

Filled with ‘baratees’, the bus had started from Baruhatu village in the Kuchai thana area of Seraikela-Kharsawan district to Chogagutu village in Tamar for a marriage ceremony late last night as the incident took place.

Four of those killed include minors who had been seated on the rooftop of the bus which came in contact with the live electric wire while entering the village.

Soon after the electrocution incident, the bus was evacuated and the injured were rushed to a local health hub from where the seriously injured were referred to RIMS.

Two of those killed were identified as Jiten Singh Munda and Dinesh Singh Munda where as identity of the remaining victims is being established.

Though the unfortunate incident had disturbed the marriage ceremony for some time, but it was solemnized at a low profile amid the wailing kin of those killed.

On Monday morning, a team of Jharkhand Bijli Vitaran Nigam Limited reached the spot and is trying to find out what had gone wrong with the electrification in the Chogagutu village.

A police team is also conducting a separate investigation into the tragic incident that resulted in the death of four young persons.
