Dhanbad, September 11: A two-member team from the French Embassy, Dr. Didier Raboisson and Aymeric Vo Quang, on Wednesday visited IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad to explore potential areas of joint collaboration.
Dr. Raboisson, the Attaché for Scientific and Academic Cooperation, and Aymeric Vo Quang, the Project Manager for Scientific and University Cooperation, engaged in discussions with IIT ISM’s administration and faculty regarding potential research and innovation partnerships between IIT ISM and French academic and scientific institutions.
Research collaboration and facilities tour
Dr. Raboisson addressed the faculty, post-docs, and PhD scholars at the Golden Jubilee Lecture Theatre (GLLT), outlining various research collaboration opportunities between India and France.

The French team toured the Institute’s innovation centre, examining the facilities at TEXMiN, the mining technology innovation hub, as well as the Centres of Excellence, NVCTI, and the Coal India Innovation Centre. They also visited the ACIC IIT ISM Foundation.
Potential collaborative areas discussed
During their discussions with the IIT ISM administration, led by Director Prof. Sukumar Mishra, the French team highlighted several areas for potential collaboration. These included marine science technology, decarbonized hydrogen, applied mathematics, and health and life sciences.
The meeting included key IIT ISM faculty members, such as Prof. Sagar Pal, Dean of R&D; Prof. Tanmoy Maity, Associate Dean of International Relations and Alumni Affairs; Prof. SR Sammader, Associate Dean of R&D; and Prof. Gauri Shankar, Associate Dean of International Relations.
