Daltonganj, February 18: Garhwa police made a spectacular recovery of 3.5 kgs of gold ornaments and captured one accused of a major loot of 3.8 Kgs of gold ornaments from a famous jewellery shop, Roop Alankar, in Garhwa town on February 13.

Garhwa SP Deepak Pandey said, “My boys made a stunning recovery of as much as 3.5 kgs of looted gold ornaments. 3.8 kgs of gold were looted. All the gold ornaments were of 18 carat”.

Diamond rings and weapons

“We have recovered one diamond ring. Where there is gold, there is a weapon. My boys recovered four country-made weapons like two katas and two pistols, 19 live cartridges of the bore 315 and 7.65 mm, and a keypad cell phone, “SP Pandey added.

The SP had formed SIT to crack this case. The SIT did its job very well and busted this crime quickly, making an outstanding recovery of looted gold.

It was an outright challenging case for the police as the loot of the gold jewellery right in the town of Garhwa had many tongues wagging.

Systematic manhunt for criminals

SP Pandey said, “There was a systematic manhunt for the criminals. Police pressure was intense. We built up such a pressure that made the criminals lose their sleep.”

SIT searched for criminals in Bihar, UP and Jharkhand. The psychological search made the criminals believe the space was shrinking so that they could not escape or remain in hiding.

The Garhwa SP added, “We finally got an accused Pradip Dome. He was caught in a room in the premise of a place of a temple.”

Then came one precise tip-off. It was of an abandonment of a black bag across the railway line at Nagwa Mohalla.

Police rushed to the place and, much to its surprise and delight, found a black bag lying abandoned there.

The black bag retrieved by the police had precious gold ornaments and one diamond ring, besides four illicit weapons and ammunition, including a cell phone.

Two of Pradip Dome’s accomplices, Booky Soni and Chotu, fled.

Garhwa police have further stepped up its hunt for these two, and it wouldn’t be any surprise if the duo surrendered to the court of law, all for Garhwa police squeezing their leg space.

It was a loot of gold and not any heist, as the number of criminals is said to be 3.
