Jharkhand News: International Non-Violence Week begins at Sindri College

Dhanbad, Oct 2: Sindri College, a constituent unit of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU), organised a series of programs to commemorate International Non-Violence Week, observed from September 29 to October 4.

The event featured various activities, including a speech competition focused on non-violence, poetry recitation, solo singing, and group dance competitions. The initiative was spearheaded by NSS Unit-1.

Principal Dr KK Pathak served as the chief guest, while Dr Sunita Jaiswal, the dean of social sciences at BBMKU, was the guest of honour. Before the competitions began, the chief guests and senior faculty members highlighted the significance of celebrating International Non-Violence Week and the value of non-violence in civil society.

Over hundred students from the arts, science, and commerce streams participated in the events, earning high praise from both the chief guests and the competition jury.

Senior faculty members Dr Anil Ashutosh (Physics) and Dr Manoj Kumar Tiwari served as judges for the speech and poetry competitions. Meanwhile, Dr Vishu Meghnani and Dr Sharmistha Acharya judged the solo singing and group dance competitions.

Dr Nitu Gaurav, the NSS program officer, conducted the competitions, while Dr Anil Ashutosh proposed the vote of thanks.

Senior faculty members, including Dr Sumiran Kumar Rajak, Dr Mamta Kumari, Dr Ranjit Prasad, Dr Shubhashish Dutta, Nishant Kumar Dubey, Ankit Alok Toppo, Puja Kumari, Romolo Jojo, and Arti Yadav, played a crucial role in making the program a success.
