Jamshedpur beat Ranchi to win CISCE under-17 cricket championship

Dhanbad, July 6: Jamshedpur Zone won the CISCE under-17 boys cricket championship defeating Ranchi by four wickets in the final today.

In the final match played at the host De Nobili Korodih School ground, the Ranchi team batting first was skittled out in the stipulated 10 overs. Amit was the highest (19) scorer of the team while Divyanshu of Jamshedpur claimed two wickets conceding merely three runs.

In reply, the Jamshedpur school team scored the required 67 runs losing six wickets. Rajveer Kundu was the highest (19) scorer for the team. The Bhagalpur team got 3rd position.

Chief guest presents trophy to the winning team’s captain

Bhagalpur beat Dhanbad to win Under-19 title

In the boy’s under-19 final, Bhagalpur defeated Dhanbad by 7 runs and won the championship trophy.

Bhagalpur batting first scored 72 runs in 10 overs but in reply, the Dhanbad team was all out for 65 runs. Santosh of Bhagalpur was the highest scorer (19) while for Dhanbad Ranveer hit 28 runs but failed to lead to victory.

In the under-19 category Jamshedpur got the third position.

In the final ceremony, former zonal cricketer and state team coach Balashankar Jha was the chief guest and he presented the trophy to both winning teams. DeNobili School principal CS Francis was the guest of honour on the occasion.

Co-ordinator of the tournament Doly Prasad conducted the function. Kallol Samantha and teachers of schools were also present on the occasion.
