Jamshedpur, April 19: In a significant boost to Jamshedpur’s growing wildlife and photography community, the Rotary Satellite Club of Jamshedpur Birders has announced a two-day Photography Workshop in collaboration with Canon India, to be led by renowned wildlife photographer Anindo Basu.

Slated for April 26–27, 2025, the event is supported by the District Forest Office and promises a deep dive into the art and science of bird photography.

Day 1: Indoor Learning and Personalized Feedback

The workshop kicks off on Day 1 with an indoor training session at Kalimati Banquet, Supercenter, where participants will explore the intricacies of camera handling, lens choices, composition strategies, and basic photo editing techniques.

Attendees will also receive personalized feedback on their existing work, allowing for a rich learning experience tailored to individual skill levels.

Day 2: Outdoor Session in Jamshedpur’s Birding Hotspots

On Day 2, the focus shifts to the field, with an immersive outdoor session at either the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary or Jubilee Park—two of the region’s most vibrant birding zones.

Under Basu’s mentorship, participants will capture avian life in its natural setting, honing techniques in motion photography, framing, and equipment optimization. The District Forest Office’s support will provide both logistical backing and environmental context to enrich the experience.

Jamshedpur: A Thriving Birding Destination

Boasting over 250 bird species, Jamshedpur is a thriving hub for birdwatchers and wildlife photographers. Seasonal migrations from as far as Siberia, Central Asia, and the Himalayas during winter, and influxes from the Western Ghats in summer, make the city a year-round destination for avian enthusiasts.

Regular birding hotspots such as Chotabanki, Dobo, Sitarampur, Chandil, and Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary are not just rich in biodiversity but also offer stunning backdrops for photographers seeking that perfect shot.

The Rotary Satellite Club of Jamshedpur Birders, a dedicated wing of the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur 16030 (District 3250), brings together Rotarians with a shared love for birdwatching and conservation. Beyond their regular excursions and documentation efforts, the club actively partners with conservation groups to raise awareness about avian ecology and protect natural habitats.

Limited seats ensure a personalized, hands-on learning environment.
