Dhanbad, Oct 14: Jamshedpur’s notorious criminal and shooter of Dubai-based gangster Prince Khan, Bhanu Majhi, was injured in an encounter with Dhanbad police on Tuesday morning. The incident took place between 4:30 and 5:00 AM on the Rajganj–Tetulmari road near Tilatand Pahari, about 19 km from the district headquarters.

Majhi sustained a bullet injury in his left leg during the gunfight and was rushed to Asarfi Hospital by the police. He is said to be out of danger. The encounter was part of a checking drive led by Tetulmari police station officer-in-charge Vivek Kumar Choudhary.

Exchange of Fire

According to the police, Majhi was approaching on a bike from the Rajganj side when officers signalled him to stop. Instead of complying, he opened fire at the police team. The squad retaliated immediately, injuring him in the process.

A 9 mm pistol, a motorcycle, and a blood-soaked slipper were recovered from the spot. Police said one of Majhi’s accomplices managed to escape during the exchange of fire.

Senior Officers at the Spot

Following the encounter, Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar, Rural SP Kuldeep Choudhary, City SP Writvik Srivastava, and Deputy SP (Law and Order) Naushad Alam reached the site. A search operation was launched to track down the accomplice who fled the scene.

Traffic movement on the Rajganj–Tetulmari road was temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure amid fears that other criminals might be hiding in the area.

Crackdown on Prince Khan’s Network

Dhanbad police have intensified operations against shooters associated with Wasseypur gangster Prince Khan, who recently issued extortion threats to industrialists and doctors in Jamshedpur, Ranchi, and Dhanbad.

A day earlier, police arrested 12 criminals, including four members of the Bhanu Majhi gang, and seized arms, ammunition, bikes, and cash. Officials said the group was allegedly planning a major criminal operation in the coal belt.

After receiving intelligence on Majhi’s hideout in Dhanbad, the police stepped up their search operations, eventually cornering him in the early morning encounter.
