Jamshedpur, July 5: A 19-year-old girl from Calcutta died while trekking on a hill at Ghatsila, about 50 km away from here on Thursday evening.

Asthmatic attack leads to girl’s death

Identified as Shiali Sil, the girl was trekking the hill to see Dharagiri Falls in Ghatsila along with her two friends in the evening when she had an asthmatic bout and collapsed.

Though Shiali was asthmatic, she had unfortunately forgotten to bring her inhaler along when set out for the trekking.

As soon as the girl fell terribly sick due to the asthmatic attack, her friends Uttara Ray and Srujita Bhattacharya somehow managed to rush her to a local health hub, Subarnarekha Nursing Home where the doctors declared her as dead.

Police seize body, inform family

The deceased was a resident of Shyam Bazaar locality in Kolkata and had come to Ghatsila along with her friends on Thursday morning itself.

The Ghatsila police have seized the body and informed the deceased’s family about the incident.

Postmortem is to be carried out after the family members concerned will arrive in Ghatsila.
