Daltonganj, September 25: Latehar district administration, which is already working on ‘Clean & Green Latehar’ on Thursday, acted upon ‘Rashtriya Shramdaan: Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ where under the stewardship of the DC Latehar Utkarsh Gupta, five different teams spread over in five different locations conducted a noticeable safai abhiyan.

The commoners and bystanders too got encouraged to lend their helping hand, which bespeaks of the commitment of the DC Latehar Utkarsh Gupta and his team to keep Latehar ‘clean & green’.

Sources said Latehar district is first in the state to have an impeccable SLRM (Solid Liquid Resource Management) where integrated facilities for processing organic waste and safe disposal of inert waste are underway.

DC Latehar Utkarsh Gupta told this correspondent, “We have a fleet of 70 Didis. They earn their livelihood through solid liquid resource management. Their wages are managed by the earnings accumulating from the waste management.”

Latehar has generated a whopping 50 lakhs of rupees from segregated waste management.

Around 50,000 metric tonnes of waste have undergone secondary and tertiary segregation categorising under as organic, recyclable and hazardous to the environment.

Latehar DC Gupta further said, “We are looking for local recyclable handlers to buy our segregated items. We have 169 such segregated items.”

Latehar district is doing this ‘marvellous work’ without drumming it, said sources. Latehar Nagar Panchayat has 15 wards and the mission is to keep it neat and clean, for which a common man’s support is indispensable.
