Daltonganj, June 4: In a thoughtful gesture to support traffic personnel braving the harsh summer heat, the Lions Club of Femina donated thermos flasks to SP Reeshma Ramesan for distribution among 60 traffic cops and officials. The donation ceremony was held at the Town Police Station in Daltonganj on Wednesday.

DIG of Police, Palamu Range, Naushad Alam, graced the occasion as the chief guest, with several senior officers including Additional SP (Ops) Rakesh Singh, SDPO Hussainabad S. Mohammad Yakub, and SDPO Sadar Mani Bhushan Prasad in attendance.

This marked the second initiative by Lions Femina for the police in recent weeks. Just last week, the group had collaborated with local police to organize a mega health and blood donation camp at the police lines ground.

Apart from the thermos flasks provided by Lions Femina, the local Chamber of Commerce contributed day and night goggles for the traffic personnel, acknowledging their relentless efforts under extreme weather conditions.
In a brief but impactful speech, DIG Naushad Alam praised the Lions Femina team, quoting an Urdu couplet meaning of which was, ‘if there is determination, destination is not far away’.

He also commended SP Reeshma Ramesan, calling her a “Jaanbaaz” (brave) officer, and acknowledged the challenges faced by traffic cops working in adverse conditions.
SP Reeshma Ramesan expressed pride in the initiative and shared efforts being made for the welfare of traffic personnel. “We’ve requested nearby shopkeepers to offer a stool or chair for traffic cops to rest when traffic is light and to allow access to washrooms for our female officers,” she said.
