Jamshedpur, Dec 23: In a major breakthrough, the police on Monday arrested three persons for allegedly selling intoxicating drugs at Mango.
Those arrested were identified as Umesh Gupta, Rajkumar Gupta and Sonu Pandey.
Umesh Gupta is the owner of Maa Vaibhav Medical Stores and Laxmi Auto Parts shop, both on Dimna Road and Rajkumar Gupta is the elder brother of Umesh Gupta and owner of Laxmi Medical Stores, also situated on Dimna Road.

Intoxicating tablets, syrups, injections worth over Rs 25 lakhs seized
During the search operation, the police have seized intoxicating tablets, syrups and injections worth over Rs 25 lakhs from Umesh Gupta’s house in Hariom Nagar in Mango and from the godown of the auto parts shop.
Revealing about the breakthrough, Senior SP, Kishore Kaushal said that detection about the racket of the intoxicating drugs’ sale was the outcome of a meticulous study by the police regarding the frequent criminal incidents taking place in the city.
“After a thorough study, we concluded that behind most of the crimes being committed in the city is either consumption of liquor or use of intoxicating drugs. Then only we set up a special team to detect the sale of intoxicating drugs and ultimately reached to racketeer like Umesh Gupta,” said Kishore Kaushal while briefing the newsmen at the Ulidih thana Out Post in Mango on Monday.

The Senior SP said during the probe the police team came to know that Umesh Gupta had brought a big consignment of intoxicating drugs from Calcutta recently.
“Following the information, the police team raided the Maa Vaibhav Medical Stores. Having picked up Umesh Gupta from there, the team raided his house and the godown of the auto spare parts shop from where the stock of the intoxicating drugs was seized,” he stated.
The senior police officer pointed out that the accused person could show no paper against the purchase of so huge quantity of the intoxicating drugs.
Arrested trio sent to jail
Kishore Kaushal said when it came about the way of selling these drugs, the police team found out that the drugs were being sold to the customers without any prescription. He stated that Umesh Gupta would also supply those drugs to several other medical stores across the steel city.
Rajkumar Gupta and Sonu Pandey were associated with the drug sales business directly or indirectly.
All three arrested persons were sent to the Ghaghidih Central Jail after their production before a judicial magistrate in the afternoon.
