Dhanbad, May 10: The Department of Metallurgical Engineering at BIT Sindri kicked off its annual fest, ‘Dhatvika-25’, on Saturday with a blend of academic enrichment and engaging student activities.
The event commenced with a welcome by Prof. Kirti Madhavi and featured addresses by institute dignitaries including Director Dr. Pankaj Rai, CDC Chairman Dr. Ghanshyam, and Dean of Student Welfare Dr. B.N. Roy.
HoD of the Metallurgical Engineering Department, Dr. A.K. Rajak, highlighted the importance of the fest and outlined the series of technical and non-technical events planned over the coming days.

Expert Sessions with Industry Insights
Dr. M.P. Roy, Chief Scientist at CSIR-CIMFR, was the chief guest for the inaugural session. In his address, he shared valuable insights into the mining sector, advanced research, cutting-edge R&D knowledge and industrial applications, emphasizing the need for innovation in metallurgical engineering.
Dr. Meenakshi Sabharwal, Chief Quality and Business Excellence Officer at Vedanta ESL, served as the guest speaker. She inspired the student audience by sharing her professional experiences and shedding light on current trends and opportunities in the metallurgical field.
Diverse Events Mark First Day of Celebrations
The first day saw the successful execution of several student-focused activities including Sthanann (group discussion), Avsar, Aarambh, and Metal-o-grafie. These events were conducted under the guidance of Dr. A.K. Rajak and aimed at enhancing students’ analytical and technical skills.

Senior faculty members including Dr. B.N. Roy, Dr. Sangram Hembram, Dr. Nand Kishore, Prof. Izhar Hussain, Dr. Sumit Sharma, Prof. Kirti Madhavi, Prof. Babul Das, and Prof. Monica Gautam played a crucial role in organizing and coordinating the day’s events.
The day concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Izhar Hussain, acknowledging the contributions of faculty, guest speakers, and student volunteers for making the inaugural day of Dhatvika-25 a grand success. The fest will continue with more events and expert sessions in the days ahead.
