Jamshedpur, May 26: Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC) successfully conducted an intensive POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) training program on Monday.

Organized by the college’s Outreach Department, the session engaged over 300 teaching and non-teaching staff members in an enlightening and interactive learning experience.

The training aimed to raise awareness about the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, while empowering employees with a clear understanding of institutional redressal mechanisms and preventive measures.

Barnali Chakraborty, an expert from Yuva Shakti Foundation, led the primary session using a conversational approach. She demystified the legal framework of the POSH Act, shared compelling real-world case studies, and highlighted the need for cultivating a gender-sensitive workplace culture. Her session offered a comprehensive overview of the Internal Complaints Committee’s (ICC) mandate, procedures, and responsibilities.
In a parallel session, Padma Kumari from Padma Shakti Foundation focused on gender advocacy and community-driven interventions. She emphasized the pivotal roles of empathy, awareness, and accountability in creating harassment-free environments.

Her presentation also included practical strategies for promoting a culture of mutual respect, encouraging active bystander intervention, and effectively addressing inappropriate behavior.
The training clearly underscored that POSH compliance is not just a regulatory obligation but a foundational element of a conscientious and empowered organizational culture.
