Jamshedpur, July 28: A wave of shock and anger swept through the Ulidih locality in Jamshedpur after a youth was found dead under suspicious circumstances on the rooftop of a house near Durga Mandir on Sankosai Road No. 1 late Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as 25-year-old Vishal Mahato, a daily wage worker and resident of Krishna Nagar Gaur Basti.
According to family members, he had stepped out around 11 p.m. on Sunday, saying he was going to assist in decorating the temple for an event. Hours later, his lifeless body was discovered on a nearby rooftop.

Locals gathered at the spot soon after the news spread and immediately informed the police. Ulidih police arrived and sent the body to MGM Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Grief quickly turned into outrage when Vishal’s father, Vikas Mahato, alleged that his son had been deliberately murdered. “He had no disputes with anyone. This cannot be an accident—it is a planned killing,” he said.
On Monday morning, as the postmortem was being conducted, family members and villagers staged a protest at MGM Hospital demanding swift action and arrests.

Ulidih police station officials have begun a thorough probe into the case. “We are awaiting the autopsy report to confirm the cause of death. Statements of locals are being recorded, and all angles are being investigated,” the officer in charge stated, assuring that those responsible will be brought to justice.
The incident has left the entire locality tense, with residents calling for a speedy resolution to the case.
