Latehar, Sept 1: Today marked a historic day for Jharkhand Police as nine extremists of the Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), including its zonal commander Ravindra Ganjhu, surrendered together. The surrender ceremony was held in the auditorium of the Collectorate.
Present on the occasion were CRPF Inspector General Saket Kumar, IG (Operations) Michael S. Raj, IG Sunil Bhaskar, DIG Naushad Alam, DIG SSB Manvendra, SP Kumar Gaurav, and DDC Syed Riyaz Ahmad.

Calling it a major achievement for the police, CRPF IG Saket Kumar said this was the first time in Jharkhand’s history that nine members of a single extremist group surrendered together.

He declared that JJMP has now been wiped out in Latehar and added that the goal of making Jharkhand completely free of extremism and Naxalism by 2025 is very close to being achieved.

Those who laid down arms include Zonal Commander Ravindra Yadav, Sub-Zonal Commanders Akhilesh Yadav and Baldev Ganjhu, Mukesh Ram alias Ravi alias Azad, Pawan alias Ram Prasad, Area Commander Dhruv Ji alias Guardian, Vijay Yadav, Bign Yadav, Shravan Singh alias Paras, and Mukesh Ganjhu. The extremists also handed over a large cache of weapons to the police.
