Daltonganj, February 20: Nilamber Pitamber University has been granted Rs 20 crores under Pradhan Mantri USHA (Uchchatar Siksha Abhiyan).

It’s a Government of India scheme. It’s different from RUSA, but PM USHA is a continuation of RUSA.

Under the PM USHA, three state universities have been granted funds. These three universities are Vinoba Bhave University Hazaribag, Nilamber Pitamber University Medininagar and Kolhan University Chaibasa.

Vinoba Bhave University Hazaribag has been granted Rs 99.79 crore worth of funds for research and development. In contrast, Nilamber Pitamber University and Kokhan University have been granted 20 crore worth of funds each.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched these three here in Jharkhand and other projects across India.

Acting VC NPU Dr Tapan Kumar Shandilya said: “Express directions have been given to the registrar of the Nilamber Pitamber University, Dr Mirtunjay Kumar, to make suitable arrangements for the video conferencing ceremony in the campus of the GLA college where PM’s digital launching of it can be viewed in the virtual classroom.”

Registrar Dr Mritunjay Kumar said, “We have made decent arrangements for our students, teachers, elites, etc, in our virtual classroom to witness the digital launching of the PM USHA on the campus of the GLA college Daltonganj.”

“This Rs 20 crore grant is a great thing. It is to strengthen the university. It will help improve our facilities for the students,” said Mritunjay Kumar.

Acting VC NPU Dr Tapan Kumar Shandilya said, “There is always room for improving the infrastructures, and this university, which came into functioning in 2009, still has many teething issues. We will strengthen our university with this benevolence under the Pradhan Mantri USHA.”
