Daltonganj, Feb 22: A group of students confronted Nilamber Pitamber University (NPU) proctor Dr. K.C. Jha today, voicing their frustration over unresolved academic issues and delays.
The students remained calm but determined. Acknowledging the university’s shortcomings, Dr. Jha attempted to address their concerns.
Leadership Vacuum Fuels Student Restlessness
One of the key concerns is the prolonged absence of the Vice Chancellor (VC), who has not been present since February 1. Additionally, the university has been without a Pro-VC since June 2023, leaving students feeling neglected.

Confusion Over English Honours Syllabus
An English Honours student criticized the university’s lack of clarity regarding the syllabus under the New Education Policy (NEP). She stated that when she asked an official for guidance, she was directed to check Ranchi University’s website. However, when she pointed out a significant change in the syllabus, the official had no response.
Dr. Jha assured her that the issue would be resolved in the coming week.
Postgraduate Admissions Delayed Indefinitely
A student leader raised concerns about the stalled admissions for the 2024–26 postgraduate (PG) session, questioning why the process has yet to begin. He accused the university of being indifferent to the issue.
University sources admitted that academic schedules are running late. Currently, efforts are focused on finalizing UG 5th semester results. Once these results are declared, students will take their 6th and final semester exams. Only then will PG admissions for the 2024–26 session commence.
However, officials conceded that further delays in PG admissions are likely.
