Dhanbad, April 2: Prisoners at Dhanbad Divisional Jail can now connect with their family members and friends through an online meeting facility.
Principal District and Sessions Judge of Dhanbad, Virendra Kumar Tiwari, inaugurated the ambitious E-Seva Kendra at the Civil Court premises, enabling relatives and friends to interact with inmates virtually without visiting the jail gate.

Speaking on the occasion, Judge Tiwari stated that the E-Seva Kendra will not only facilitate virtual meetings but also provide various legal services, including case status updates, court hearing schedules, access to legal certificates, online case filing, e-signature services, and document uploads to the Case Information System (CIS).
“The E-Seva Kendra will also offer an e-meeting appointment booking system for those wishing to meet jailed family members, along with details about judges on leave and the location of special courts,” Judge Tiwari added.
Additionally, the E-Seva Kendra will serve as a hub for accessing free legal aid services through the District Legal Services Authority, High Court Legal Services Committee, and Supreme Court Legal Services Committee. It will also facilitate video conferencing for court hearings and provide soft copies of court orders via email.
