Daltonganj, September 8: Palamu District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) under the chairmanship of the Principal District and Sessions Judge Diwakar Pandey is monitoring the case of a mother Pinki Devi who for her stark and jejune poverty, bad health, unsecured livelihood and responsibility of bringing up a total of 5 children, had sold off her nearly one month old son, the fifth in the family, to a family slightly well off than her but coming from the same clan of Pinki Devi.
The episode led to a prompt cognizance of the episode by the Executive Chairman of JHALSA, Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, who then directed the DLSA Chairman, Principal District and Sessions Judge Diwakar Pandey, to rush the DLSA Secretary Rakesh Ranjan to the mother.
In an equally swift operation, the DLSA Secretary Rakesh Ranjan pushed off for the mother and ensured assistance reach her in time.

Family’s Struggle: Health, Shelter and Livelihood
The concerns of the family are varied. It’s livelihood, shelter, health, food and education of the children.
Pinki Devi’s husband is a skilled person, can do odd jobs as well. As for shelter, land is a prime requisite for Abuwa Awas.
Civil Surgeon Dr Anil Kumar Sriwastwa told this correspondent, “The mother complained about a lump in her left breast. She said it hurts her when breastfeeding.”
“She also said she has never been to any government health facility. A so-called quack whom she knows gives her treatment. I have arranged for her medical treatment in the MMCH Daltonganj,” said the Civil Surgeon.
Sources said the Civil Surgeon had taken with him a lady doctor, Shweta, and one ANM posted in the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Lesliganj to note down her health issues. The mother was later examined in the CHC at Lesliganj.
The final call on her lump in the left breast is to be taken by the surgeon after due examination of the affected part of the body.

Welfare Measures for Family Initiated
Court sources said the DLSA intervention has accelerated the care and has enhanced the attention of this family, which is now a focused one.
“We are coordinating with the civil administration for the Aadhar card, bank account, ration card etc of the members of this family to have the benefits of welfare schemes of the government”, said Rakesh Ranjan.
As for the education of the first two children, the elder one, a girl, the District Education Officer Saurav Prakash has assured to get the girl in a government residential school, and the second child, a boy, to be in a residential government school, informed the DLSA Secretary.
“Under the sponsorship, three children of this family will be covered @ 4,000 rupees per month per child till the child attains the age of 18, but during the entire stretch of this doling out of government money, there will be a periodic inspection and verification of the beneficiaries of the sponsorship”, added the DLSA Secretary.
