THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK

Daltonganj, Dec 9: Panki police in Palamu have busted the dacoity case which had happened in the house of a jeweller Krishna Soni of village Gajbore under the Panki police station limits on the intervening night of 23/24 October.

Soni had claimed to have lost jewellery worth 20 lakhs of rupees but he had failed to produce material evidence to prove the lost jewellery to be worth 20 lakhs of rupees.

SP Reeshma Ramesan held a press briefing where she had by her side all the officers who cracked this case like SDPO Lesliganj Manoj Kumar Jha, circle inspector Poonam Toppo, OC Panki police station Rajesh Ranjan and others while behind the row stood for a brief moment four accused who were remanded to judicial custody.

Ranchi-based jeweller arrested

Among the four accused criminals one was a jeweller identified as S K Verma of Sukhdev Nagar Ranchi who had bought the stolen gold and silver.

First the recovery of gold and silver. Panki police got both. The recovery included articles of melted gold, one gold ring, two pairs of silver payal and one pair of old silver payal.

SP Reeshma Ramesan reminded that where there is the theft of gold or silver criminals just go for its transformation. They melt the metal. Reasons are not far to seek.

As against this much in use practice of transforming precious metals like gold and silver, Panki police’s recovery of gold and silver is an important recovery.

The victim Soni has not made faces over recovery as any grain of recovery of gold and silver holds its own value as it is too difficult to recover it and Panki police made Soni not to pine for much.

On being asked if the victim was all satisfied with the recovery for gold and silver SP asked the Jharkhand Story correspondent to reassure itself from the victim.

Six committed dacoity

There were six who had committed dacoity. Three were caught and jailed this month alone on charges of different crimes. One of the three is in the Latehar jail.

The confession of the three who went to jail led to the arrest of three criminals along with the Ranchi-based jeweller.

Thus Panki police has its hands full. Six criminals are now behind the bars. Jeweller too behind the bars. The victim Soni’s gold and silver recovered to be restored to him after due court proceedings.

Barring one out of three criminals who were remanded to judicial custody Upender Kumar has no criminal antecedence.

Satish has seven cases spanning over three districts Ranchi, Latehar and Panki while Chhotu has six cases spanning over two districts Latehar and Palamu.

The three criminals who were remanded to judicial custody today were in the age group of 24 to 35, the Ranchi-based jeweller S K Verma remanded to judicial custody today also was almost of the same age 34 as that of the criminals.

Police also recovered a huge hexa cutter enough to break or smash any powerful lock. The dacoits looked too professional.
