Daltonganj, August 28: Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR) goes for local dialect in afforestation.

Under Abua Toraang, Abua Aayo (Hamara jungle, Hamari Maa) mission, inmates of the girls’ residential school carried out a massive plantation drive at Akhra.

The brain behind this move is of the Deputy Director, North Division of PTR, P K Jena, who has a strong conviction that Jan Bhagidari can help tide over many problems with the forests and their produce.

There is a massive bamboo cultivation along with mango, jamun, kathal and ounla. 6,000 bamboo plantations have been done already.

Each plant has a girl student of this residential school as its saviour. A girl is tagged to a plant. These plants will be a neo library of learning for the girls.

Jena is very passionate about reducing the quantum of conflicts between human and wildlife. The conflict ends up in disaster with humans and wildlife both.
