Doda is a byproduct of opium
Doda is a byproduct of opium which is produced by processing poppy flowers. The other byproduct of the poppy flower is Postu, which is a delicious food item.
As poppy cultivation is prohibited here despite being a profitable activity, villagers tend to carry on it in the Naxal-infested areas, expecting that the police will hardly come to know about it given the fact that such areas are not patrolled regularly. But in this case, the police had specific information about the stock of the Doda to be smuggled out and therefore they could unearth it.
This illegal substance is consumed mainly by truck drivers who once consumed tend to drive heavy vehicles on long routes without having to beat their eyelids for hours together.
In this connection, the police have registered a case under the section of the NDPS Act against an unknown with the Tebo thana.
