SUBHASH MISHRA

Dhanbad, Jan 11: The Dhanbad district administration plans to enlist the services of private specialist doctors to provide better treatment for patients at Sadar Hospital.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Madhwi Mishra stated that the district administration is committed to offering top-quality medical services to patients at Sadar Hospital, ensuring care that surpasses corporate health centres.

During a surprise inspection of Sadar Hospital on Friday evening, accompanied by senior officials, Madhwi Mishra noted that several specialist doctors are working in private hospitals across the district. She mentioned that a draft is being prepared to engage these specialists at Sadar Hospital. “In this regard, a meeting with private nursing home operators will be called soon,” said the DC.

Sadar Hospital was revived in 2019

Sadar Hospital, which was revived in 2019 following a directive from the Jharkhand High Court, owes its revival to the efforts of Sadar MLA Raj Sinha. The High Court took cognisance of the matter and ordered the hospital’s restoration. Initially, the hospital started operating with a few doctors hired on contract under the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT).

Although, in November 2023, the state government deployed over a dozen Senior Residents (postgraduate doctors) to Sadar Hospital to meet its staffing needs, their deputation was cancelled in July 2024 by the National Medical Commission (NMC), and they were sent back to medical colleges.

During her inspection, Madhwi Mishra interacted with patients in both the male and female wards to gather feedback on the facilities. She also inspected critical units, including the Newborn Stabilization Unit (NBSU), the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the operation theatre (OT), fire safety arrangements, and other facilities.

The inspection was attended by SDM Rajesh Kumar, Civil Surgeon Chandrabhanu Pratapan, Sadar Hospital Nodal Officer Dr. Rajkumar Singh, WHO’s SMO Dr. Amit Kumar, and Fire Department In-charge Laxman Singh.
