Jamshedpur, Sept 10: A shocking incident of attempted purse-snatching left a woman and her six-year-old son injured near Nildih under the Golmuri police station area last night.
According to reports, Neetu Singh, wife of Tata Motors employee Surendra Singh, was returning home from Sakchi with her family when a youth on a scooter targeted her near the Nildih signal.
The assailant tried to snatch her purse, but Neetu resisted, leading to a scuffle. In the struggle, she and her son Sarthak, fell on the road, sustaining injuries.

Sarthak received a serious head injury, while Neetu suffered facial wounds.

With the help of local residents, both were rushed to Tata Motors Hospital, where doctors administered first aid. Their condition is now stated to be stable.
Police teams reached the spot soon after the incident and began scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas.
Officers have also started questioning locals in an effort to identify the culprit.
The incident sparked outrage in the locality, with residents taking to the streets and demanding swift action.
They urged police to ensure better safety arrangements, particularly for women and children.

Social workers and community members have described the episode as a wake-up call, stressing the urgent need for stricter security measures.
Police have assured that the accused will be arrested at the earliest.
