Renowned educator Chitra Bhatt passes away

Jamshedpur, Jan 10: The city mourns the loss of its esteemed educator, Chitra Bhatt, who passed away at the age of 72. She breathed her last while undergoing treatment at Jagruti Mental Hospital, Taloja, Mumbai.

Her final rites were conducted at the Shivaji Park Crematorium in Dadar, Mumbai. Close relatives, including her dear friend Frederick D’Souza and other family members, attended the ceremony.

Know Chitra Bhatt

Chitra Bhatt was closely associated with Jamshedpur Women’s College and Loyola College of Education. Many of her students have gone on to serve as principals and teachers in various schools across the city.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. M.N. Bhatt, a former TMH employee, her daughter Priya, son Rahul, and an extended family.

Interestingly, Chitra Bhatt began her career in the film industry and acted in the Dev Anand-directed movie Prem Pujari. After her marriage, she relocated to Jamshedpur and dedicated her life to the field of education.

Condolences and Tributes from the Community

Her demise has left a void in the education sector. Notable figures, including Father Pius Fernandez, Father Sunil Lakra, former Kerala Samajam Principal Vijayam Kartha, De Nobili School Principal Father Miskith, Loyola School Vice Principal Vinita Ekka, and many others, expressed their heartfelt condolences.

Prominent personalities like literary figure Dr. Vijaya Sharma, Police Inspector Anand Mishra, Advocate Kulwinder Singh of the Kaumi Sikh Morcha, and educationists from Loyola College Alumni Association, including Suman Sarkar and Indrani Sarkhel, also paid their tributes.

They unanimously acknowledged her unparalleled contribution to education, describing her as a guiding light whose absence has left an irreplaceable void.
