Jamshedpur, Sept 5: A case of job fraud has surfaced in the city, where a man was allegedly duped of Rs 20 lakh on the pretext of getting a permanent job at Telco.
The victim, Gopal Krishna Singh, a resident of Namda Basti in Galudih, has lodged a written complaint at the Golmuri police station.
According to the FIR, the accused couple — Jagdamba Singh and his wife Vandana Devi, residents of Cross Road No. 4, behind Telco Gulmohar School — had approached the complainant claiming they had the influence to secure him a permanent position in Telco.

Between January 1, 2023, and January 1, 2025, the complainant allegedly paid the couple a total of Rs 20 lakh in instalments.
Despite repeated assurances, neither the promised job materialized nor was the money returned.
When Singh demanded his money back, the accused allegedly kept delaying, forcing him to approach the police.
Golmuri police station in-charge confirmed that a written complaint has been received and an investigation has begun.
“Preliminary inquiry indicates that the couple had planned the fraud in advance. Strict legal action will be taken after investigation,” the officer said.
The incident once again highlights how job seekers are being trapped by fraudulent agents and fake promises.
