Jamshedpur, Dec 24: As per the instructions of East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Ananya Mittal, Dhalbhum Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Shatabdi Majumdar today conducted a surprise inspection of Sakhi-One Stop Center and Child Helpline located on the third floor of Red Cross Bhawan.

Executive magistrate Sudipta Raj was present during the inspection.

Key issues identified

During the inspection, the SDO inspected medical facilities, deputation of doctors, legal aid and counselling, police assistance etc. provided to the victimized women in the One Stop Center and took information and also heard their problems from the operator.

It came to light that due to the absence of a night watchman, night stay was not given to the victimized women, there was a problem of drinking water and there were no sanitation workers.

The Sub-Divisional Officer assured that appropriate action will be taken in this regard. She also directed to further improve the systems and cleanliness.

Empowering victimized women and strengthening Child Helpline

Notably, the Sakhi-One Stop Center has been created to support women suffering from sexual harassment, emotional, psychological and economic abuse and violence against women within the family, community, and workplace in private and public places.

The SDO directed to provide information to the victim women coming to the One Stop Center regarding their legal rights, free legal aid, benefits of government schemes etc. so that the women victims of violence can take maximum benefit of the centre.

She also talked about making the child helpline more active. The SDO also appealed to the residents of the district that if they see any minor child being exploited in any way and deprived of his fundamental rights, then they must inform on toll free number 1098 so that their proper accommodation and care can be ensured by the administration.
