SNMMCH Dhanbad MBBS XI beat SR XI by 16 runs

Dhanbad, Jan 10: MBBS XI secured a 16-run victory over Senior Resident (SR) XI in the Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College (SNMMCH) inter-MBBS cricket tournament for the Dr. Yogender Singh Memorial Trophy on Friday.

MBBS XI’s strong innings

Batting first, MBBS XI posted a total of 143 runs in the allotted 12 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process.

Raj Nag was the standout performer, contributing an aggressive 47 runs from just 21 balls, which included four boundaries and three sixes.

Purushottam Mandal supported him well with 29 runs off 20 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes, while Atul Pandey added 21 runs off 9 balls, featuring two fours and two sixes. Abhishek remained unbeaten on 18, and Binwal contributed 8 runs before being run out.

SR XI’s struggle despite Sunny Kumar’s heroics

In response, SR XI could only manage 127 runs in their 12 overs, losing 3 wickets. Sunny Kumar’s blistering half-century (55) was the highlight of their innings, as he faced just 25 balls and struck seven boundaries and four sixes.

However, the lack of support from other batsmen resulted in SR XI falling short of the target. Dr. Mantosh Kumar (19 runs), Dr. Shubham Kumar (19 runs), Dr. Rizwan (17 runs), and Dr. Sudhanshu (8 runs) were the other key contributors.

Bowling performances

MBBS XI’s bowling was led by Pranav Ojha, who claimed two wickets in two overs, conceding only four runs. The team’s bowlers kept the pressure on SR XI throughout the match, ensuring a comfortable win.

For SR XI, Dr. Rijwan and Dr. Vishnu Mandal were the most successful bowlers, taking three wickets each. Dr. Rijwan conceded 36 runs, while Dr. Vishnu Mandal gave away 24 runs. Dr. Sonu Kumar also picked up one wicket in two overs.
