Dhanbad, June 5: Ten-day summer camp of Tata Steel Foundation, Jharia Division for school children began here at Tata Football Ground Malkera on Wednesday.

Sanjeev Kumar Thakur, head, of Sijua Colliery, Tata Steel today inaugurated the camp and shed light on the importance of summer camp for school children.

A Tata Steel Foundation official said that the objective of this 10-day amp is to promote sports and physical activities among the school-going/young children in the company’s leasehold area.

310 children participate in summer camp

A total of 310 children from the age group of 7 to 16 years, from 15 schools in and around the Sijua area, will be participating in the camp. The children will be trained under experienced coaches in the disciplines of archery, football, athletics, and more, every day from 6 am to 8 am.

Special arrangements for drinks will also be provided to the children to keep them hydrated during the training session.

Anmol Srivastava, area manager, HRBP Jamadoba Group, Mehmood Alam, secretary, RCMU Bhelatand Colliery, Bipin Singh Choudhary, manager, community development, Tata Steel Foundation, Sayan Bose, assistant manager (sports), Central Coordination Committee Member, Girish Mahato, Dulal Rai, and Vinod Rajak Mukhiya, Malkera (south), from the rural community, also graced the programme to encourage the participants of summer camp.
