Jamshedpur, April 20: Tata Steel observed National Fire Service Week between April 14 to 20 across its locations to raise awareness about fire safety, prevention, and to pay homage to brave firefighters who have sacrificed their lives.
Commencement of the National Fire Service Week happened on April 14 at Tata Steel Fire Brigade, Jamshedpur.
Arvind Kumar Sinha, chief Security & Brand Protection, Major Anil Kumar, Head Town Security, Abhay Ranjan, Senior Manager, Fire Brigade, Shahnawaz Khan, union Committee member Fire Brigade, Fire & Rescue Services and Security Services employees paid homage to the firefighters.
Fire prevention awareness, advisories, drills, training
During the week, several activities were organised to spread awareness of fire prevention. Some of the activities included the release and distribution of fire prevention posters, awareness sessions on emergency preparedness at schools, online intranet quiz among Tata Steel employees in which 2,436 Tata Steel employees participated.

Besides, daily fire safety advisories to prevent different types of fire were issued, and fire extinguisher training and awareness sessions for 4,800 school children, 260 teaching staff and 60 homemakers were also organised.
Mock drill session were organised at Tata Motors Limited, Indian Wire & Steel Product Limited, JCAPCPL, Jamipol Limited and TMH Hospital.
First aid fire extinguishers training was imparted at JPS School, AIWC School, Jusco School, DBMS School, Vidya Jyoti School, Narbheram Hansraj School, Tata Main Hospital, Tata Pigment Limited, Tata Steel Limited, Tube Division, Tata Steel Gamharia, ISWP by Tata Steel Fire Service personnel.
Approximately 850 company employees and contractors were sensitized for emergency care and fire control.
A fire safety training was also organised for media persons in Jamshedpur.
