Jamshedpur, April 12: In a major step toward strengthening the city’s power backbone, Tata Steel UISL inaugurated two state-of-the-art 33/6.6 kV power substations at Tinplate and Sakchi today, reaffirming its commitment to delivering reliable and future-ready infrastructure for Jamshedpur.

The inauguration was led by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, and Ritu Raj Sinha, Managing Director, Tata Steel UISL.

The event was also attended by prominent leaders including Vijay Prakash Singh, Sr. General Manager, Power Services; Raghunath Pandey, President of Tata Steel Utilities and Services Shramik Union; Varun Bajaj, Chief of Town Infrastructure; and Harinder Verma, Chief of Electrical T&D, along with other senior officials.

The Tinplate Substation will cater to the high-density eastern zone of the city, including Agrico, Bhuiyadih, Baridih, Sidhgora, Bhalubasa, Sitaramdera, and surrounding neighbourhoods—benefiting nearly 3 lakh residents with improved power access.

Meanwhile, the Sakchi Substation will serve Kasidih, Baradawari, and Aambagan, ensuring consistent and enhanced electricity distribution across these urban areas.

With Jamshedpur witnessing a sharp increase in electricity demand—driven by urban growth and rising AC usage—the new substations are strategically developed to ease load stress, optimize distribution, and bolster reliability.
