PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Dec 15: As part of the ongoing anti-narcotics drive “Operation Prahar”, Sidhgora police of Jamshedpur achieved a significant success by arresting two drug peddlers involved in the illegal trade of brown sugar.

The action followed a specific tip-off indicating that certain youths were actively engaged in selling brown sugar in small packets to customers.

After discreet verification of the information, a special police team was formed under the supervision of the Sidhgora Police Station in-charge and a raid was conducted at the identified location.

During the operation, two suspects were apprehended on the spot. A search led to the seizure of 43 packets of brown sugar, three mobile phones and a motorcycle used in the illicit trade.

Police interrogation revealed that the arrested individuals had been involved in drug trafficking for a considerable period and were supplying narcotics at the local level, particularly targeting youths. Further investigation is underway to trace their supply chain and identify other persons linked to the network.

A case has been registered against the accused under relevant legal provisions at Sidgora Police Station. Following due legal procedures, both were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
