Jamshedpur, April 2: The police arrested two youths with three firearms from along the NH-33 under MGM thana area near Jamshedpur late on Tuesday night.

The arrests come after the two youths identified as Vishwajit Singh alias Rocky and Rahul Singh alias Chhotu had launched a gunshot attack on a youth, Lavkush Kushbaha at Turiabera under the MGM thana area on the night of March 29.

Police Chase Leads to Arrest

Briefing the newsmen on Wednesday, Senior SP Kishore Kaushal said that a police team which was trying to trace the two accused in connection with the firing case got a tip-off that the duo were loitering on a motorcycle near the DWPS School near Turiabera.

“The police team had immediately reached the spot and found the information to be true. But the accused fled the scene leaving the motorcycle there. The police team, however, chased the miscreants and finally succeeded in catching them,” Kishore Kaushal said.

Weapons Recovered During Search

He pointed out that on frisking the two, the police found two loaded pistols, including a country-made from the possession of Rocky and a loaded pistol from the possession of Chhotu.

The senior police officer said that both the accused were arrested after they had confessed that they had opened fire on Lavkush Kushbaha on March 29 night in a sequel to an old enmity.

Old Dispute Led to Attack

Speaking about the reason behind the firing, the Senior SP said the police had registered a case against Rocky and Chhotu on the FIR lodged by Lavkush Kushbaha in a sequel to a clash that had taken place in 2022.

“The duo were pressuring Lavkush to enter into an agreement so that the case may be withdrawn from the court,” said the senior police officer, adding that the duo who are residents of Subhash Colony in Mango were in the process of being forwarded to the judicial custody.
