Jamshedpur, Nov 25: In a gruesome incident two young men were found lying hacked to death suspected to be done by Naxals under the rebel-infested Gudri thana area in West Singhbhum district, about 130 km away from here on Sunday morning.

The incident took place at Giru village where the victims were apparently indulged in carrying sand by tractor from a nearby river bank.

A sand-laden tractor was also found lying in an abandoned state near the two mutilated bodies.

After getting to know about the incident, the police reached the spot and tried to get the bodies identified before shifting them to the Chaibasa Sadar Hospital for postmortem.

Murder suspected to be done over sand lifting

From the initial probe by the police, it is suspected that the Naxals killed the duo for indulging in unauthorised lifting of sand from the river bank.

West Singhbhum SP Ashutosh Shekhar confirmed about the savage attack suspected by Naxals on two persons resulting in their deaths on the spot.

He said after the assailants had used sharp weapons in the killings, adding that the police and paramilitary forces had launched a hunt for the killers.

The twin murders might have been committed on the intervening night of Saturday when the victims were busy lifting and carrying the sands clandestinely from the river bank.

The incident has triggered a sensation across the Gudri thana area, leading the local residents to approach the police as well as the administration to enhance security in the Naxal-infested area.
