In the morning today, the body of 26-year-old youth Rohit Singh alias Chhotu was found lying in a pool of blood on the cot he was sleeping on.

Like every night, Rohit, who was a school van driver, had slept in the courtyard of his house located at Kitadih Gwala Bustee in suburban Bagbera thana area. But in the morning when the family members wanted to awaken him, he was found motionless in a pool of blood.

As he was apparently shot, the anxious family members still rushed him to Tata Main Hospital — about half an hour ride — where the doctors on emergency duty declared him as brought dead.

The family members revealed to the police that Rohit might have been killed by Sanjay Sharma, a neighbour, who had threatened him with dire consequences after a dispute broke out between the two over something.

Youth stabbed to death by a group of bikers

In the other incident, a 21-year-old youth Debraj Pillai was stabbed to death by a group of bikers who were out for Puja pandals hopping in the city.

According to police, Debraj who was a resident of Ulyan in Kadma had also embarked upon the pandals hopping along with three friends on two bikes.

Incidentally, one of the bikes of the rival group had collided with the bike of Debraj’s friend, causing a clash to take place between the two groups of bike-borne youths near SNTI on N-Road in Bistupur past Saturday midnight.

During the clash, someone from the rival group had called in 20-25 more youths in the scene. Soon after, one of the youths from the rival group stabbed Debraj repeatedly causing him to fall fatally injured.

Subsequently, Debraj’s friends, namely, Ankit, Vishal and Gautam Mahto rushed him to Tata Main Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

The police are trying to detect the assailants by taking out CCTV footage from the area, but as of now, no progress could be made in this regard.

Significantly, the son of R Pillai, Debraj was supposed to join a contractual firm in Tata Steel from today.
