Jamshedpur: A tragic incident in Mango’s Teachers’ Colony on Monday morning has sent shockwaves through the locality after a 24-year-old youth was found hanging inside his girlfriend’s house.

The deceased has been identified as Abhishek Sharma, who had been living in a live-in relationship with a married woman for the past year.

The woman, who has two children, had been living separately from her husband.

According to reports, Abhishek’s body was discovered hanging from the ceiling inside the woman’s house on Monday morning.

She immediately informed his family members, who rushed to the spot and took him to MGM Hospital in a critical condition. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The news of the death triggered chaos at the hospital as Abhishek’s grieving family members accused the girlfriend of mentally harassing him, claiming it drove him to take the extreme step.

Enraged relatives attempted to assault the woman, but home guard personnel intervened and brought the situation under control. The woman was later handed over to MGM police for her safety and questioning.

Family members alleged that the girlfriend had been torturing Abhishek mentally for some time.

Six months ago, Abhishek had rented a flat where the couple started living together. They were together on Sunday night as well, but on Monday morning, the woman suddenly reported his suicide.

Police have sent the body for post-mortem and have begun questioning the woman. Preliminary investigations suggest suicide, but police are also probing possible relationship-related tensions or other factors behind the incident.

The shocking death has created a mix of grief and outrage in the neighbourhood.
