PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, June 18: A tragic road mishap claimed the life of a 22-year-old youth late on Tuesday night in Telco locality of Jamshedpur.

The accident occurred in front of the MTC (Shiksha Niketan School) on the main road past midnight, amid heavy rainfall that made the road slippery and hazardous.

The deceased has been identified as Aman Kumar, a resident of Ghorabandha and son of Ajit Kumar.

Aman was a resident of Apna Aangan Apartment at Ghorabandha . He was reportedly riding a Yamaha motorcycle (registration number JH 05 DU 3191) when he lost control due to the slippery road surface and fell hard, sustaining a severe head injury. He died on the spot.

The incident was first reported by a security guard stationed at MTC, who immediately alerted the Telco police station.

A police team rushed to the location and found Aman lying motionless in a pool of blood. He was promptly taken to Tata Motors Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The sudden death of Aman has left his family devastated. He was their only son and had recently completed his college education.

According to family members, Aman was a bright and sociable young man with a promising future.

Initial police investigation suggests that Aman was alone on the motorcycle at the time of the accident.

It is still unclear whether he was wearing a helmet. Eyewitnesses stated that the rain was particularly heavy at the time, and the road was extremely slippery, which likely caused the bike to skid and crash.

The Telco police station in-charge said that CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to determine the exact cause of the accident.

However, initial findings point toward excessive speed and poor road conditions due to the rain as the main contributing factors. The body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination.

Following the incident, a pall of gloom descended over the locality. Residents have urged the administration to install proper warning signs and barricades at accident-prone spots during the rainy season.

Suggestions have also been made to increase night-time road patrols to prevent such tragic incidents in future.
