Dhanbad, June 21: A youth identified as Amardeep Bhagat (25) was shot dead near Law College Telepara under the Sadar Police Station area in the early morning today.

The local residents at around 5.30 am spotted the injured youth under a pool of blood in a bush near Law College football ground and duly informed the police.

The youth was bearing signs of bullet injury on the neck. On the spot, police recovered one scooty and two helmets near the bush.

Police with the help of local residents and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) senior leader Debu Mahto got him admitted to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) where he succumbed to his injury.

SNMMCH emergency in-charge Prof (Dr) Dinesh Kumar Gandauria said that he was breathing when he was admitted but died during treatment.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (law and order) Dipak Kumar and the officer-in-charge of Dhanbad police station also reached the spot and began an investigation of the incident.  “We can say on incident only after probe and talk with family members”, said DSP.

The youth lived with his mother in a rented house in Vastu Vihar Colony, Steel Gate, while his father lives in the Manaitand area under the Dhansar police station area.

Why he reached so early morning near the deserted Law College region from Steel Gate has become a mystery. Police are investigating the murder from different angles including love affairs.
