Dhanbad, Nov 20: In an unusual move, the Deputy Commissioner and election in-charge of Deoghar district, Vishal Sagar, replaced the presiding officer of Booth No. 111 in the Madhupur assembly constituency for misconduct during polling today.
According to district administration officials, the presiding officer was found near the voting compartment during the polling process. This behaviour was flagged through webcasting surveillance, prompting officials to report the matter to the Deputy Commissioner.

Taking the issue seriously, Vishal Sagar immediately directed the replacement of the presiding officer and ordered a thorough investigation into the incident. Legal action against the official has also been initiated.
As per the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines, being near the voting compartment constitutes misconduct, necessitating the officer’s removal during the voting process.
