On the occasion, organising secretary Dr Ajay Patwari said that an unhealthy lifestyle now affects almost every family in India. The rural and urban divide is also decreasing, which could be disastrous as rural areas lack health infrastructure.

“The other most important aspect is that even the young generation, due to this fast-food culture and sedentary lifestyle, were getting affected with this diabetes. Type 2 diabetes, which was earlier present above 40 years of age, is now being seen in 12 to 15 years of people,” he said.

Different types of diabetes

On the second day of the conference, different types of diabetes, like type 3 diabetes and type 1.5 diabetes in the young, were discussed by doctors of Ranchi and Kolkata.

Earlier free-of-cost insulin, insulin devices and glucometers were distributed among affected persons. Eminent social persons Manoj Agarwal, Ram Prasad Katesaria, Sanjay Khemka, Dilip Gopalka and Deepak Poddar contributed to it.
