THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK

Ranchi, Jan 31: Following the directives of Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh, the department has developed the Beneficiary Level Geo-Tag App, a unique initiative aimed at ensuring timely installment payments for housing construction under the Abua Awas Yojana.

With this app, beneficiaries can geo-tag their under-construction houses themselves, updating progress as the construction advances. Minister Deepika Pandey Singh emphasized that various challenges arise in providing housing to beneficiaries, and this app is designed to enhance transparency in the installment payment process. She added that its implementation would bring long-term benefits and help prevent irregularities in installment distribution.

Ensuring Transparency in Installment Payments

According to the department, each approved beneficiary will receive financial assistance of ₹2 lakh, disbursed in four installments, as per the allocated targets under the Abua Awas Yojana.

Rural Development Secretary K. Srinivasan has instructed all Deputy Commissioners and Deputy Development Commissioners to collaborate with Village Organizations (VOs)—established and managed by JSLPS—to support housing construction at the Gram Panchayat level. He stressed that ensuring transparency in installment payments is of utmost priority.

To streamline the process, beneficiaries in each Panchayat will be grouped into sets of four. Additionally, it has been mandated that any pending installments must be disbursed on a designated Wednesday each month.

App Availability and Verification Process

MGNREGA Commissioner and Nodal Officer of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) Mrityunjay Kumar Baranwal has directed all Deputy Commissioners and Deputy Development Commissioners to take immediate steps to ensure the app’s accessibility for beneficiaries.

The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or the Abua Awas Yojana portal and installed on mobile devices. During installation, beneficiaries will receive an OTP for verification. To enable geo-tagging via the app, they must update their registered mobile numbers in the block login system.

The Panchayat Sevak will verify the geo-tagged data submitted by beneficiaries within seven days. Based on verification, the submission will either be approved or rejected, with reasons provided in case of rejection.
