Chaibasa, Feb 25: In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing anti-Naxal operations, security forces have seized a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and essential supplies from a Naxal hideout in the Jimkiikir forest area near Sarjamburu and Tumbahaka under Tonto police station.

The discovery was made during an extensive search operation conducted on February 24, during which two underground Naxal weapon dumps were successfully demolished.

Ongoing Crackdown on CPI (Maoist) Activities

For several years, security forces have been conducting sustained operations against the banned CPI (Maoist) Naxalite organization, which remains active in the Saranda and Kolhan regions. Intelligence reports suggest that top Maoist leaders—Misir Besra, Anmol, Mochu, Anal, Asim Mandal, Ajay Mahato, Sagen Angaria, and Ashwin—along with their squad members, are operating in these areas, planning subversive activities.

To counter this threat, a joint task force comprising Chaibasa Police, Cobra 209 BN, Jharkhand Jaguar, and CRPF battalions 60 BN, 197 BN, 174 BN, 193 BN, 134 BN, and 26 BN has been carrying out relentless operations.

Since 2022, security forces have conducted continuous search operations in the border areas of villages under Goilkera and Tonto police stations, including:

  • Goilkera PS: Kuida, Chhota Kuida, Maradiri, Meralgada, Hathiburu, Tilaybeda, Boypaisang, Katamba, Bayahatu, Boroy, and Lemsadih.
  • Tonto PS: Husipi, Rajabasa, Tumbahaka, Regada, Patatorb, Goburu, and Luiya.

10 Firearms, Over 500 Rounds of Ammunition Recovered

During the latest search operation launched on February 24, security forces targeted suspected Maoist hideouts in the forested areas around Sarjamburu, Tumbahaka, Purti Tola, and Jimkiikir. Acting on specific intelligence, the forces unearthed and demolished two underground Naxal weapon dumps.

The raid led to the recovery of 10 firearms, including an M16 rifle, multiple bolt-action rifles, and an air gun, along with more than 500 rounds of ammunition. In addition, security personnel seized wireless communication equipment, batteries, ammunition pouches, and bags of Naxalite clothing, further disrupting the Maoist supply chain.

Anti-Naxal Operations to Continue

Security forces remain committed to eliminating the Maoist insurgency from the region. The ongoing anti-Naxal operation will continue with intensified efforts to curb extremist activities and restore peace in the affected areas.

The massive weapons haul marks a major success in ongoing anti-Naxal operations. Security forces continue to crack down on Maoist activities, dismantling their supply networks and ensuring that extremist elements do not regain a foothold in Jharkhand.
