Jharkhand: Shruti Pandey becomes BIT Sindri ‘Fresher of the Year’

Dhanbad, Jan 22: Shruti Pandey of the chemical engineering department became BIT Sindri ‘Fresher of the Year‘ in a two-day mega annual cultural festival organized by the Leo Club of the institution.

On the basis of 16 events and competition performance Shruti emerged number one, Sahil Pandey of the production engineering department got the second position, Abhilash Kumar of computer science came third, Akshat Pratap of electrical engineering was fourth and Abhishek Surin of electronics and communication department got the fifth position.

Leo Club office-bearers said the Fresher of the Year Contest (FOYC) was organized after four years due to unavoidable reasons and the festival concluded with resounding success. First-year students from various branches participated with excitement and spirit.

Multiple segments to test contestants

The festivities kicked off with the unveiling of the 12 elites, creating an air of anticipation for the events to follow. The first segment, “Have It Your Way,” challenged participants to showcase their extempore skills, general knowledge and special talent.

Throughout the day, dazzling performances marked key segments such as “Silver Screen,” “Karaoke,” and “ABCD,” with participants displaying their artistic prowess. The grand finale, “Magnum Opus,” featured a collective question-and-answer session involving all five FOYs.

Winners of competitions

“FOYC Cultural Fest has left an indelible mark on campus culture, fostering a sense of unity and celebration among the freshers”, observed the organizers.

BIT Sindri director Pankaj Rai, general warden RK Verma, Dr Rahul Kumar (Electrical Engineering), Professors in-charge Dr Amar Kumar,  Dr Deepesh Kumar, Dr Rajesh Narayan Deo, Dr Sumit Kumar,  Prof NP Choudhary, Prof Prasant Kumar Singh, Prof Dinesh Kumar, Prof Om Prakash and Prof  Sanjay Oroun graced the occasion as guests.
