Jharkhand signs MoU with SBI to provide insurance benefits to govt employees

Ranchi, April 17: In a major step towards employee welfare, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Thursday between the Finance Department of the Jharkhand Government and the State Bank of India (SBI) regarding the salary package for state government employees. The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

The agreement was inked between Rajeshwari B, Special Secretary of the Finance Department, and Devesh Mittal, Deputy General Manager of SBI. The signing ceremony was attended by Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore, Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Avinash Kumar, Principal Secretary Vandana Dadel, SBI’s Chief General Manager (Jharkhand-Bihar) K.B. Bangaraju, and General Manager Prabhash Bose.

Under the MoU, state government employees whose salary accounts are maintained with SBI will be eligible for a host of benefits at no extra cost. These include accident insurance cover of up to ₹1 crore, as well as health and life insurance, along with other enhanced banking services.

A New Chapter in Employee Welfare

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said the government is committed to ensuring the respect, security, and welfare of all categories of government employees. “This marks the beginning of a new chapter in providing financial security to our staff,” he stated.

He emphasized that the partnership with SBI aims to provide accident coverage to employees, ensuring that in the event of a fatal incident during service, the employee’s family will receive financial support of ₹1 crore.

Providing Security in Challenging Times

The Chief Minister added that today’s world brings multiple uncertainties, and individuals are increasingly concerned about the safety and well-being of their families. The state government, he said, is working with foresight and compassion to ensure the financial security of its employees.

“It is heartening to see institutions like SBI coming forward to support our staff in a backward state like Jharkhand,” he added.

Recognizing the Role of Govt Employees in State Development

Highlighting the role of public servants in governance, the Chief Minister said government employees play a crucial role in policy formulation and execution on the ground.

“It is our duty to boost their morale and create a conducive environment for their work,” he said. He also urged employees to continue serving the state with dedication and integrity.
