Dumka, March 2: In Jharkhand’s Dumka, a Spanish woman was allegedly gang-raped late on Friday night. Kurumahat, in the Hansdiha police station area, is where the incident occurred.
The woman and her husband, both bike enthusiasts, were camping in tents in Kunji village, Dumka. They were on a biking trip to Bhagalpur, Bihar, when the incident occurred.
The Superintendent of Police of Dumka visited the crime scene on Friday night and has remained stationed there since then.
Three detained, SIT formed
The police have arrested three individuals in connection with the incident, which is believed to have involved a group of eight to seven men.

The matter has been referred to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for further investigation and forensic experts have been enlisted to aid in the probe.
The Spanish woman is receiving medical care at Saraiyahat Community Health Centre (CHC) hospital at the moment.
An ongoing investigation is in progress, with the detained individuals being interrogated.
The woman and her husband arrived in India on a tourist visa as part of an extensive journey across Asia. They travelled to Pakistan initially, then to Bangladesh, before reaching Dumka. Their next destination from Jharkhand was planned to be Nepal.
NCW member meets victim
Meanwhile, National Commission for Women member Mamta Kumari met the victim today. The rape survivor has been kept in the Dumka circuit house for security reasons.
All accused to be arrested soon: SP
Talking with media in Dumka, SP Pitamber Singh Kherwar said the arrested persons have confessed their involvement. He assured that the other accused would be arrested soon.
As per police, the matter came to light when a couple standing on the highway came to a PCR van passing through around 10 pm on Friday and revealed the matter. Unfortunately, the PCR team could hardly understand precisely what had gone wrong with them. But the team had got that something had gone wrong with them. The team took them to the nearest health centre, where the doctor understood the matter.
According to the SP, he and the SDPO rushed to the hospital and got acquainted with the matter, talking with the victim couple.
The SP denied that he had prior information about the tourists who were travelling on bikes. He claimed that had he been informed, he would have arranged security as per rule.
